What does the phrase "let them eat cake" have to do with the french revolution?

let me get this straight. so i read somewhere that marie antoinette, who was so out of touch with reality after being pampered her whole life from being queen, had been told the people of france were starving so she dumbly replied "let them eat cake?" is that meant to be like her saying "um okay. they dont have any bread so how about they eat cake?"
