How to tell the difference betw a person with a narcissistic personality disorder and an emotional abuser?

Have been doing some research n have found that my soon to be ex husband displays characteristics that are similar to both types. So which type is he? By the way most articles said that emotional abusers are as such due to emotional abuse they faced when young from parents, instead he has always been pampered n is a mamma's boy. What do you think?
